WordRake 5.2—The Fastest Version We’ve Ever Produced

Aug 20, 2025

WordRake has always been faster than human editors, but WordRake 5.2 works at more than twice the speed of any previous version. Instead of running each algorithm on sentences one after another, this newest version of WordRake runs all algorithms at once, for a quick, powerful editing experience.

The decision to focus on speed in this new version was based on the knowledge that running 50,000 consecutive operations on each sentence would take significantly longer than running 35,000. As the precision of our software has increased, so has the time it takes to edit each sentence. To speed the editing process, our engineers redesigned the program to run all operations simultaneously for each sentence.

WordRake 5.2 includes all the technical improvements of our recent 5.1 release, allowing it to offer more edits per sentence and an expanded addressable distance between complex noun phrases and their verbs. Improved handling of punctuation, complex grammar, ambiguous references, misplaced modifiers, and confusing nested clauses means you’re getting more nuanced recommendations than ever, in half the time.

WordRake 5.2 is available for Windows and Mac users to upgrade today. Even if you’ve taken a trial of WordRake in the past, you can try it again and see the difference 5.2 makes in your editing process.

About WordRake

Launched in 2012, WordRake is editing software designed by writing expert and New York Times bestselling author Gary Kinder. The software was originally created so lawyers could focus on their legal analysis without using unnecessary verbiage but has since been expanded to work for all types of professional writing. While teaching over 1,000 writing programs for many of the country’s largest businesses and law firms, Gary identified a set of signals that indicate wordiness and muddled writing. Those signals became the foundation for WordRake editing software. WordRake runs in Microsoft Word and Outlook and uses complex, patented algorithms to find and improve weak lead-ins, confusing language, and high-level grammar and usage slips. A WordRake license ranges from $149 to $229 per user per year. A free 7-day trial is available at www.wordrake.com.
